Dubai International Airport's New Baggage Policy

Effective November 1, 2005, Dubai International Airport has introduced a new policy that no single item of baggage may exceed 32 kgs (70 lbs).

This has been implemented to ensure increased safety of passengers; to prevent injury to baggage handlers and to avoid damage to baggage equipment.

  • Any single item of checked baggage weighing more than 32 kgs (70 lbs) will not be accepted at check-in
  • Any bag exceeding 32 kgs (70 lbs) will be required to be repacked by the passenger.
  • This does not affect your total checked baggage weight allowance.

This regulation also applies to transit baggage (i.e. bags through checked via Dubai).
